As a solo traveler, I always prefer staying at a hostel rather than a luxurious hotel. Not only they’re budget-friendly, but also, they offer an opportunity to meet fellow travelers and have an immersive cultural experience. And that’s exactly what I got during my stay at The Flying Pig Hostel in Amsterdam.
The Flying Pig Hostel has three branches (Downtown, Uptown and Beach). The Flying Pig Hostel is a perfect spot for backpackers who want to be in the middle of the action. From the moment I entered through the doors of the hostel, I could sense the energetic atmosphere of the place. The hostel lobby is spacious, filled with comfortable couches, and decorated with quirky graffiti art.
As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous about meeting new people, but The Flying Pig Hostel made it easy for me. The hostel has a lively bar that offers a range of drinks, from the local Dutch beer to cocktails, and an excellent space to strike up a conversation with fellow travelers. Whether you’re in the mood for some pre-drinks or a night out, the bar provides a perfect social hub for both.
What made my stay at The Flying Pig Hostel truly memorable was the knowledgeable and friendly staff. They offered great advice on what to do and see in Amsterdam and helped me plan my day-trips to other nearby cities. The staff made me feel instantly at home and gave me the confidence to explore Amsterdam without worrying about getting lost or missing out on the must-visit sights.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hostel’s breakfast buffet. The Flying Pig Hostel provides an extensive breakfast with a range of options, including fruits, cheeses, bread, and a hot dish. It’s the perfect fuel to start your day exploring Amsterdam.
In the evenings, we often gathered in the common area where there were board games, a pool table, and other fun activities hosted by the hostel. This way, we got to meet many travelers from all over the world, share our stories, and connect.
If you’re heading to Amsterdam, I highly recommend staying at The Flying Pig Hostel. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and the location is perfect for experiencing the city’s vibrant nightlife. From the lively bar, knowledgeable staff to the easy to meet people, The Flying Pig Hostel made my stay in Amsterdam unforgettable.
